Rerouting Busses
In August a meeting was called at the Town Office to brain storm and plan new bus routes due to road construction. Bus pick-up and drop-off was organized to accommodated the on going construction of the main street. Construction ran from August until November. We learned to be good problem solvers and flexible.
Bus Tags and Numbers
We made tags for all of the Kindergarten, grade 1 and 2 students and attached them to their back pack. This was to aid the supervisors and students in identifying buses for riders. We also purchased large numbers to stick to the windows of the bus waiting area. This way students would wait in a group for their busses. Students missing their bus greatly diminished.
Safety First
We had the drainage corrected and sidewalks repaired on the south side of the school. Water under the sidewalks caused heaving and cracking which made walking on them very hazardous. At the same time we added an extension to the south fence line. It has kept balls from the play area from rolling onto the road. We also extended the yellow curbs and lines within our bus pick-up and drop-off zones for further safety.
Bottle Filling Fountains
We requested a donation from an Oil and Gas company for 2 new fountains with bottle fillers. When the district maintenance crew arrived to price out the electrical they purchased and installed them in our school for free. Ask and you shall receive! Thank you Grande Prairie Catholic.
Playground Equipment Installed
Playground equipment purchased last year was installed for the students.
